Change Lives – Become a Foster Parent
From The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services
Lincoln – Every year, hundreds of dedicated foster parents open their hearts and homes to children with special needs, teenagers, or brothers and sisters who want to stay together.
“I want to personally thank all of these wonderful unsung heroes,” said Todd Reckling, director of the Division of Children and Family Services in the Department of Health and Human Services. “Our foster families believe in creating brighter futures for children, and they can make a difference that lasts a lifetime.”
Nebraska has over 3,900 foster families that care for approximately 3,000 children and youth whose own families were in crisis and unable to provide for their essential needs.
Foster parents are part of a team that helps reunite children and their parents and focuses on keeping families together whenever possible. Recent changes to the child welfare and juvenile services system are geared to having more children stay in their homes and to also providing supports that can ensure safety and strengthen the family even if the child must enter foster care. When it is not possible to get the family back together, the goal becomes finding a permanent family for the child through adoption or guardianship.
“I can’t thank foster parents enough for what they do for children,” Reckling said. “They are truly special people.”
There’s an ongoing need for foster parents. A foster parent needs to be someone who is flexible, loving and caring and who can provide structure and consistency for children in their home.
Reckling encouraged anyone who’s interested in helping children grow and develop to call 1-800-7PARENT to learn more about becoming a foster parent.
Additional information on foster care or becoming a foster parent can be found at these web sites: www.dhhs.ne.gov/foc/focindex.htm or www.nfapa.org.

12 Success Factors to look for when choosing a Home Business
Just a few of our Ceo Moms!
I have built a real residual monthly income that has allowed us to be nearly debt free with savings and security for our family, children and our future.
With my experience and with researching dozens of different types of home businesses, I would like to share that when choosing a home business, there are some key success factors that I believe are critical for long term success. Every one is just as important as the next.
If the company you are currently representing or the company you're considering meets all of these Success Factors, I'd love to know what company it is. The only one I've found so far is the one I represent..:)
1. Company track record - How long has the company you're considering representing been in business? What are the company's annual sales each year since in business? Does the company print average income statistics for business builders? It should and you should ask for them. Proof of long term sales, success and growth is critical with choosing any business.
2. Financially sound - Does the company have outstanding debt? Joining a company that is debt free is something I highly recommend to lessen any risk to you.
3. Strong management team - What are the backgrounds and credentials of the management team? You want to join a company that is run with integrity and strong leadership.
4. Unique consumable products - Are the products of the company, products that people actually need, use, run out of and repurchase month after month. Do the products have any trademarks or patents allowing for exclusive rights meaning no other company can copy them. If the products are not consumable, meaning something that a person would only buy once, then that is a business that will not be viable long term. If the products are consumable, however not necessarily a need, that will lesson your chance for long term success. Products needed, and consumed monthly makes for a solid business model.
5. Wide market appeal - Are the products something everyone needs and uses? If the products are specific for a certain gender, age group or body size for example, you lessen your market as it is not something for everyone.
6. Competitive prices - Are the products comparable in price or less expensive than the competition? If they are too expensive this is not a business that will produce great results.
7. High customer reorder rate - Does the company share it's reorder rate? Meaning how many customers that purchased from the company last month, reorder again the following month? If the re-order rate is low, the business will not be viable as new customers simply replace your old customers producing no real growth or a secure, residual income.
8. Low initial investment - If the cost to join or start is too high it makes for more risk and difficulty in attracting customers and business partners.
9. Low monthly requirement - If there is a high monthly requirement, customers/business builders may end up with an inventory or products they do not need. If there is a low monthly product requirement, then customers are getting what they need for personal use each month, and from a business standpoint you know customers are purchasing each month which creates the security and true residual income.
10. Rewards for leadership development - Does the company reward you for helping others in your business succeed? If there is any way the company could remove business builders from your business because of their success, be very careful about joining. There should never be potential for you to lose great partners.
11. Risk-free - Is everything 100% guaranteed? If not, I would advise against joining?
12. Anyone can be successful - Is the business plan set up for anyone to be successful at any time? If it's a company that says "Ground floor" opportunity, or "Get in Now", be very wary. If only the people who join at the beginning can be successful, then eventually people will get hurt.
Well, how does the company you are with or considering measure up?
Hope this was helpful..:)

Refusing to Accept Failure
Sir Edmund Hillary was the first man to climb Mount Everest. On May 29, 1953 (57 years ago!) he scaled the highest mountain then known to man, 29,000 ft straight up! He was knighted for this accomplishment.
Many people don't understand that Hillary had to grow into this success. In 1952 he attempted to climb Mount Everest, but failed. A few weeks after this "failure" a group in England asked him to address its members. Hillary walked on stage to a surprisingly thunderous applause. The audience was recognizing an attempt at greatness, but Hillary saw himself as a failure.
He moved away from the microphone and walked to the edge of the platform. He made a fist and pointed at a picture of the mountain. He said in a loud voice, "Mount Everest, you beat me the first time, but I'll beat you the next time because you've grown all you are going to grow...but I'm still growing!"

A Mother's Love letter to her Child
"Let me tell you a secret Mommy?"
You say as you slide your sweet little lips up to my tender ears as if you are about to whisper sweet nothings to me. But then suddenly a gentle butterfly kiss passes my cheek and you giggle that high pitched laughter.
"Well, I have a secret for you as well my son" So you perch your ear next to my mouth but I grab you with my big warm arms instead and mama bear hug you. I smother your cheeks with kisses of my own and tell you how much you are loved.
I watch you curl up and lay your fluffy, light brown hair onto your plump pillow and sleepily close your eyes, yet a contented smile remains on your face. You know you are loved so immensely.
I catch a glimpse of your kindergarten toes peeking their way out from beneath great-mama's patchwork quilt and I admire your peaceful presence.
Nevermind your earlier temper tantrums that had, you hollering because you were to have no cookies before dinner. Nor the kicking and screaming to the bath before bed. Those moments are a forgiven memory now.
Now you lie so still and complacent near my side.
My mind drifts back to a night, now that seems so long ago, when I also sat close by your side. I sobbed ever so quietly at the site of your lifeless body with its transcluent skin exposing your veins and frail bones that was a one and a half pound body. I recall watching intently, too intently, the green lines on the black screen of the hospital monitor. Each beat of your struggling heart and every weary breath you fought to breathe were the center of my existence.
A tear slips down my flushed cheek, but not from the fear and prayer to our almighty God to bless us all with your life, but for the one prayer that God answered. The greatest gift that Jesus gave us all....you. To watch you run and play, to see you off to school each day. To be there for you when you through your tantrums because you can't have your way. All, our gift that God was so kind to give to us.
Sleep my Sonny, for God has big plans for you my son, and you need your rest. He will watch over your dreams and your play. And so will I as you grow into adulthood, something at one time I thought might never happen.
I love you my son, you are the light of my life!

Home is where the Chemicals are....WHAT!!??!
- Air Freshener - toxic; may cause cancer, irritates nose, throat and lungs.
- Disinfectant - very toxic; causes skin, throat, and lung burns; causes coma.
- Drain Cleaner - toxic; causes skin burns, causes liver and kidney damage.
- Oven Cleaner- toxic; causes skin, throat and lung burns.
- Window Cleaner - toxic; causes CNS disorders, causes liver and kidney disorders.
- Furniture Polish - toxic; causes CNS disorders, may cause lung cancer.
- Spot Remover - toxic; may cause cancer, causes liver damage.
- All-Purpose Cleaner - causes eye damage, irritates nose, throat and lungs.
- Toilet bowl cleaner - very toxic; causes skin, nose, throat, and lung burns.
- Fabric Softener - toxic; may cause cancer, causes CNS disorders, causes liver damage.
- Laundry Detergent - toxic; irritates the skin and lungs.
- Shampoo - may cause cancer; irritates eyes, skin and lungs.
- Deodorant Soap - may cause cancer; causes asthma, irritates lungs.
- Bubble bath - causes bladder and kidney infections; irritates the skin and nose.
- Mousse and hair spray - may cause cancer; causes lung disease, irritates eyes and skin
There is one common ingredient found....
"Although it would take a second book to cover all the ingredients commonly used in the products above, I want to let you know about one, formaldehyde, as an example. Formaldehyde is used frequently in both cleaning and personal care products because it is a cheap preservative" - RM Barry, The Ultimate Guide 2001The MSDS for formaldehyde warns: " Suspected carcinogen; May be fatal if inhaled, swallowed, or absorbed through skin; causes burns; inhalation can cause spasms, edema of the larynx and bronchi, and chemical pneumonitis; extremely destructive to tissue of the mucous membrane"
All these symptoms and more are caused by formaldehyde. Yet manufacturers can put this in our shampoo and not list it as an ingredient! I was shocked to learn that formaldehyde is a common ingredient in baby shampoo, bubble bath, deodorants, perfume, cologne, hair dye, mouthwash, toothpaste, hair spray just to name a few that we all use every day. I'm not saying that by using these products every day that they will give you cancer, but the risk is still there. After all, formaldehyde is still a suspected carcinogen, and if all cancers start from the abnormal growth of one cell, then why allow any amount into or on you or your kids' bodies?Home is where we are most likely to be exposed to toxic chemicals. After all, you spend 80 - 90% of your time indoors, most of that at home. This fact is important when you understand that in a five year study, the EPA found that airborne chemical levels in homes were as much as 70 times higher inside than outside!
When toxic household chemicals release vapors into the air, they have nowhere to go. During the oil shortage in the 70's, builders began making houses as energy efficient as possible. The result has been homes that keep toxic indoor air tightly sealed inside. Who would have thought just being exposed to the air in your house may have a devastating effect on your health? According to a legislative committee in Massachusetts, 50% of all health problems are caused, in part, by deteriorated indoor air quality.
Do you ever find it odd that these days everyone seems to be dying from cancer? After reading this information now do you? It's not a coincidence, it's a fact! We unknowingly bring in toxic chemical into our home all the time. Most of us at one point in our life have woke up with a "hang over" from drinking the night before, A hangover is the side-effect of non-lethal ethanol poisoning or getting drunk. How many days do you wake up feeling hung over with aches and pains, or nausea? Perhaps the air in your home is poisoning you? How many bottles of pain-killers have you purchased to rid yourself of headaches, possibly brought on by the chemicals absorbed in your body from you fabric softener?
The good news is that by switching to safer, more natural products, you can rid yourself of these symptoms altogether. You can make your home a healthy home!
